It’s Our Story

The Ayik Sakahikan Historical Committee, established with the primary objective of recovering the missing Frog Lake Bell following the Frog Lake Uprising, continues its tireless pursuit to this day. Additionally, this dedicated committee has undertaken numerous other historical initiatives for the betterment of the nation. Notably, in 2022, they played a pivotal role in the conception and creation of the Smoking Hills Monument, a striking tribute nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of the southern region of the Frog Lake First Nations reserve lands.
Despite the successes achieved thus far, the current focus of the historical committee remains centered on immortalizing the rich history of Frog Lake, particularly from the perspectives and accounts of its first nations people. Their ongoing efforts now center around the endeavor to establish a captivating historical landmark, one that will narrate and enlighten visitors about the diverse tapestry of Frog Lake's extraordinary past.
